One of Dominique Brun’s particular artistic interests concerns the relationships that are established between music and dance. These relationships – and the horizons suggest – are at the crux of her choreographic composition work. It is the coexistence of these two expressive forms (dance and music) which opens up a “third way” for her.
From the very beginning of her career, Dominique Brun’s projects have proclaimed this musical companionship. In the 2000s, this collaboration was enhanced thanks to the composers Juan Pablo Carreno (Sacre #197) and David Christoffel (Jeux – Trois études pour sept petits paysages aveugles). In 2016, the meeting with Les Siècles (under the direction of François-Xavier Roth) led to the Philharmonie de Paris and Les porteurs d’ombre sharing a stage for the Hommage à Nijinski project, which toured as far as China. The collaboration with this orchestra has continued to develop ever since. Les Siècles now accompanies Le Poids des choses & Peter and the Wolf, and Un Bolero has been danced by François Chaignaud as a part of the orchestra’s musical programme. From 2020, and with Nijinska | Voilà la femme, this collaboration with Les Siecles has carried on strengthening.
